Frequently asked questions.
Do you offer examinations?
While my focus is on meeting students specific needs and goals in their music journey, I do offer students the option of sitting examinations. Most of my students choose not to sit examinations, but those who do will be guided through a modern exam curriculum that allows students to choose pieces from classical, contemporary and popular genres. Students can even take advantage of the recent addition of digital submissions by the Trinity College of London. See Trinity Digital Exams for more information.
What’s your policy on make-up lessons?
The lessons are based on the school term and you are paying a term fee, which reserves your slot for the term. Zoom lessons are available when students are unwell. Make-ups for missed lessons are only offered in exceptional circumstances and subject to availability.
Do you do lessons on the weekend?
I offer lessons Mondays to Fridays during school terms. I do not offer lessons on weekends.
Can I use an electronic keyboard to practice on?
Regular practice during the week is expected of all students. A simple keyboard can be appropriate for beginner students, but a touch-sensitive digital piano would be more suitable. As students progress, greater use of pedals will be required. However, there are a number of cost effective options that will suit most students and I am happy to discuss this with you if you do not currently have an instrument.
