Lesson Types

  • At my studio, music comes to life for students of all ages and skill levels! Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to refine your technique, I offer personalised, age-appropriate lessons that foster a love for music while building a strong foundation in both piano performance and music theory.

    What I Offer:

    Individual Piano Lessons (30-Minute Sessions)
Each lesson is carefully designed to cater to the individual needs of my students, whether you are a complete beginner, an intermediate player, or an advanced pianist. With 30-minute individual lessons, you'll receive focused, one-on-one attention to help you progress at your own pace. My approach is patient and supportive, ensuring you feel comfortable and confident as you learn.

    Music Theory
Music theory is an important part of becoming a well-rounded musician. I use musical games and engaging techniques to lay the foundation of the "why" behind the music.

    Lesson Structure:

    • Beginners (Ages 3 and Up):
Lessons are playful and engaging, using fun activities, games, and visual aids to build foundational skills such as note reading, rhythm, and basic piano technique. For younger children, I use colourful, easy-to-follow methods and encourage exploration and creativity. I utilise the Wunderkeys programme specifically designed to engage pre-school children and develop music and life skills at early ages.

    • Intermediate Students:
As students progress, I focus on deepening their engagement with Music, refining technique, learning new repertoire, and developing an appropriately deeper understanding of music theory. The lessons remain student centred and fun focussed.

    • Advanced Students:
For more experienced players, we focus on delivering goals appropriate to the student and what they want to gain from their engagement with music, covering exploring and expanding repertoire with a focus on expression, chord theory, improvisation and performance. Where relevant for a student, I also offer guidance in music history and the analysis of more complex pieces.

    • Flexible Approach for Adult Learners:
For adult learners, I offer a relaxed, goal-oriented approach. Whether you're learning for leisure or aiming to take your skills to the next level, lessons are customised to suit your musical interests and learning style.

    Why Choose My Lessons?

    • Personalised Attention: Every student learns differently. I adapt each lesson to the individual, ensuring that you receive instruction tailored to your unique learning style, musical preferences, and goals.

    • A Fun and Supportive Environment: I create a warm and inviting atmosphere that fosters creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love of music. You’ll feel encouraged to experiment and express yourself through the piano.

    • Consistent Progress: With 30-minute lessons and an increasing focus on Whole Body Learning / Off the Bench Activities, students build an innate understanding of music and naturally make steady progress.

    • A Balance of Practical Skills and Theory: I believe that great musicians are both skilled performers and engaged learners. My lessons combine practical piano skills with a fun-filled approach suitable for your musical needs and goals.

  • I utilise the proven Forte syllabus for delivering small (2-6 students) group lessons for ages 18 months an up. Group lessons usually are 45 minutes. The courses are age appropriate and develop a range of musical and non-musical skills.

In a group lesson, children use the unique Whole Body Learning approach which helps them learn quicker and remember more easily. What you'll notice in lessons is that children will...

    • Sing and do actions to internalise learning before moving to the piano. This scaffolds the learning and provides a positive succession of little wins along the way.

    • Students remember better, because the more neural pathways engaged in learning, the stronger the memory.

    • Sing & play with music tracks and video clips which accelerates learning and develops a raft of skills, especially the ability to play in time and follow the music and it's fun!

Current neuroscience research shows that using embodied and multimodal learning strategies (Whole Body Learning) helps students learn more efficiently and remember more effectively.
